{July 6, 2011}   How to Lose Acne

Overview

When excess sebum oil from the sebaceous glands cannot pass through the hair follicles and out onto the skin normally, it becomes clogged inside the pores along with dead skin cells and debris. When the pores become blocked like this, they develop acne. A sealed pore forms a whitehead, while an open one oxidizes in the air and a blackhead forms, according to Medical News Today.

Diet and lifestyle are not the main causes of acne, despite popular opinion. Medical professionals believe that acne is caused by hormonal imbalances more than anything else.

Step 1

Cut a lemon in half. Squeeze juice into small dish. Mix 1 tbsp. of cinnamon powder with 3 tbsp. of manuka honey in a bowl. Stir until completely mixed.
Step 2

Place towel over head. Lean over bowl of hot water. Enclose towel around bowl to trap steam. Steam for 5 to 10 minutes to open skin pores on face.
Step 3

Dab cotton balls in the lemon juice mixture and apply to acne area. Apply generously. Leave for 30 minutes then rinse off.
Step 4

Before going to bed, apply honey and cinnamon paste as a face mask. Allow 30 minutes to dry before going to bed.
Step 5

Rinse off mask in morning. Dab dry and apply moisturizer. Using a moisturizer with a high SPF is recommended.
